Finally, after 8 hours of reading, piano music and listening Adam Bosze and his friends have finished the Budapest Reading Marathon. They gathered in Adam's bookshop around the piano for a book presentation.

A portrait of the bookseller as a page turning machine? This is much more: Adam Bosze, his friends and customers are still reading from their favourite books. Today Adam's antiquarian bookshop in the busy centre of Budapest is an island for booklovers, Adam and his co-readers are living symbols for the vital importance of literacy, worldwide.

And what I, as a German, admire most, is: How can one read the Hungarian language, one of the most difficult languages in the world, so fluently?

Is there a better way to spend an afternoon than with books and music? Adam Bosze continues reading at his antiquarian bookshop in Budapest, supported by his customers and booklovers, and a young and very talented musician on the piano.

Meanwhile in Hungary - READING MARATHON IN BUDAPEST

What an impressive, silent and elegant way to show the importance of reading: Since 8 am this morning, Adam Bosze has been sitting in his antiquarian bookshop reading ... and reading ... and reading ... and reading ... Visitors and passers-by sit down, listen for a while, or join him in reading ... reading ... and reading ... Adam will continue reading from his favourite books on music until tonight to celebrate UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day and to raise funds for the children in South Sudan, who don't have the chance to read, because there aren't any books at schools as long as we do not care and try to change this unbearable situation.

This is amazing in its simplicity - the very heart of our civilization and the very essence of literacy.
